Midlands
The Midlands Monitoring Project works across the East Midlands to provide help to victims of racist and religious incidents, and work with a range of agencies to ensure that victims across the region receive a consistent level of services.
The work of the project currently includes
A casework service
We provide a casework and legal advice service to victims of racist and religious incidents. We run free weekly advice surgery for victims every Wednesday from 1pm to 5pm.
Racial Harassment Caseworkers Forum
The Racial Harassment Caseworkers Forum brings together caseworkers and other advice workers who provides services to victims of racist and religious hatred. The Forum provides training opportunities, as well as an opportunity to share good practice and develop a strategic vision across the east Midlands.
Research and Information
The Project undertakes and commissions research projects. We are currently working on two projects:
- current trends and patters on racist incidents across the East Midlands and current infrastructure to provide assistance to victims; and
- the extent of racist incidents affecting businesses across the East Midlands
Training
The Project can provide training to organisations who help victims of racist and religious hatred. We provide run a series of training courses every four months and the current courses available can be found on the events page here.
The Project is funded by the Big Lottery Fund, and the Carnegie Foundation.
